“The primary purpose of the ECS is to maintain homeostasis, or a state of internal biological balance, between the brain and the body. 

Its activation affects many critical bodily functions, including thermoregulation, pain control, regulation of the stress response, immune and inflammatory responses, hunger, sleep, learning and memory, and emotional processing.”

While anecdotal, it has been suggested that the presence of an ECS in the human body suggest a co-evolution with cannabinoid producing plants. Said another way, the only reason we have an ECS in our bodies is because humans have been consuming the nutritional benefits of these types of plants for a very long time.
