On their About Us page Gorilla Wellness explains their mission to rewrite the cannabis narrative through these steps:
- Empowering the Black community by reinvesting our knowledge and resources back into South Central LA
- Inspiring individuals from all walks of life to explore the benefits of cannabis.
- Uplifting the next generation of Black entrepreneurs through our cannabis equity training center.
- Confronting racial injustice perpetuated by the cannabis industry.
Gorilla RX’s website has some great info about their story starting out as a cannabis infused tonic on the stores of Whole Foods, and continuing on their journey with the LA county’s social equity program and a pivot into the retail dispensary model. Hosting community events, creating spaces for black voices, and advocating for transparency in the cannabis policy process, Gorilla Wellness takes community investment to a whole new level.
