We have heard a great deal about the history of cannabis, the ever changing policies and the hard fought victories that brought us to where we are today.  As this industry grows, it is looking more and more likely that larger pharmaceutical and manufacturing operations will consolidate and take over the smaller craft goods markets and we will see more power in fewer hands.  If you are in it for the money, this presents many opportunities that you can capitalize on.  If you are in it because you believe in the power of cannabis to really help people, this could even be a good thing.  All these details are uncertain, but at the heart of them is the story we tell ourselves that matters.  It’s the way we perceive events that shapes our actions going forward.

Example: “For me, I see the policy developments as a good thing, and that schedule 3 will help ease a lot of the banking restrictions that have been a huge burden for cannabis companies. The industry developments that are happening are largely going the opposite of how I would like them, because I want small to medium sized businesses to flourish in this sector, and we are starting to see some behemoths emerge that will have a bit too much market share for my liking. Finally, I feel that the future of cannabis is very much at a crossroads, and those that enter the market now might have chosen the best time ever to get started.”

Let’s take 20 minutes and discuss the story each of us is telling ourselves and why.  You can put your comments in the discussion group and read what others are saying. As we hear these insights from one another let’s focus on 3 key factors:

  1. How can we take our gifts and apply them to the current and future cannabis markets, either plant touching or ancillary, medical or recreational, marijuana or hemp?
  2. What are we offering to those markets, and how can we create marketable products and services to meet the ever changing needs of this growing industry?
  3. How can we develop systems that adapt to policy changes, market unpredictability, and ever increasing competition from much larger players?

Let’s discuss!
