Federal Regulations on Cannabis

This is the current state of marijuana legalization across the US from a state perspective.  From a federal perspective, marijuana is still a schedule 1 substance, meaning possession, distribution, and cultivation are all technically federal crimes. 

The Department of Justice has downgraded enforcement of these laws, and the Biden administration has started the process of rescheduling marijuana to a schedule 3 substance.  But it is important to note that this is all in murky legal territory as the Federal government wrestles with national descheduling/rescheduling and full legalization.
