“So my name is, Savina Lara, I am a freelance graphic designer and web developer serving individuals who want to make a difference. My journey probably started around the time Oregon turned adult use in 2015. I grew up in a household where cannabis wasn’t really stigmatized, so when I saw the reactions of some individuals who still held that stigma against those that chose to medicate with cannabis, I felt very strange about it. I didn’t really understand it.
And so immediately what I did was join some Norml meetings, small meetings, to understand a little bit more about the science and the medical applications of the plant. And then from there, I would take all the knowledge I learned and would apply it to my artwork as a way of resistance, almost.
I believed in almost a shock factor in my artwork and just really facing people with the reality that this is just a plant. it’s been used for thousands of years and there really is no harm in its use.”
